Amerityre Solid Road/Street Bike Tire Reviews

Great product for my purpose

I just bought Amerityre tires to replace existing identical ones on my recumbent trike. I have put hundreds of miles on the ones I had and love them, I never have to worry about being stranded by a flat tire. On my trike I did not find that the feel of the ride differed from pneumatic tires, if anything a decreased rolling resistance made it much easier for me to crank out the miles. I regularly did a 36 mile ride on my trike with these tires, most people won't consider anything like that on a recumbent trike with pneumatic tires.

Superior in every way for my purpose

These tires allow trouble-free riding. I purchased these as duplicate replacements for ones I had been using that are getting worn. I have put hundreds of miles on my previous tires without EVER having to stop for a flat. They are very slightly heavier than pneumatic tires so the gram shavers don't seem to like them, but for someone like me who rides for fun they're perfect. I have regularly done 36 mile rides on my recumbent trike with these tires.

Figured out how to mount

okay. i finally tried a method i had avoided and mounted the tire!!!
you must put the rim on the ground and lean on the top of the tire to pop it into the rim and work your way around the wheel. then the last bit is tricky, but can be done with a pair of slim paint scrapers or similar. A video I just watched used a tie, which may also work on the heavier tires. it's very nice not to have to worry about inflating your tires, which allows me to leave my bike at work and just hop on and ride.

Harley from Oregon used it on a Street bike

Good product. Works as expected.

Pros: I can't get flat tires any more. Awesome.
Cons: The ride might be marginally bumpier? Can't tell anymore though, as I've adjusted to any differences.

The #1 question everyone asks me about the tires is: aren't they heavy? No, no they are not. Informally weigjinh my old tires to the new ones by hand, I couldn't feel any difference. Also, 700x25 tires are pretty small anyway, so the total weight is negligible compared to the rest of the bike and my body.

Maybe I'm just weak, but I had to use a flathead to leverage the tires into place. (The gentleman on the video did it with just his thingsthumbs o.O).

Mike from California used it on a Windsor Clockwork fixed gear road bicycle.

I have to amend my earlier review

I took another shot at it, and found that if I leaned my weight on that wheel and tire that I could push it together. So with some clever application of pressure using the my weight on the top of the the wheel and tire I was able to mount the tire successfully.
So I've taken this bike to work and parked it outside and I never have to worry about the tires deflating! Very nice.

Harley from Portland, OR used it on a None

Cannot mount into bike rim

I've tried with some determination and some tricks to mount the tire on a like sized wheel rim but no-go. I cannot fit both ribs past the rim edges. The bike shop gave it a go and looked at other rims without success. Will need to return until redesigned.
